Customer reviews of our acoustic testing

Reviews from rekvizitai.lt, translated from Lithuanian.

True professionals in their field. I did not pass the acoustic test the first time, so at first I was disappointed. But now I can say it was for the best – the specialists did not take the easy way out; they pinpointed the problems and clearly explained what needed to be fixed. After the recommended work I passed the repeat test successfully. I recommend them to anyone who values professionalism and quality work.

We contacted them about noise from a nearby industrial facility. We were pleasantly surprised – we received not only the test results but also a thorough analysis and helpful explanations. You could feel that the specialists genuinely wanted to help, not just take measurements. The analysis proved very useful in our communication with the factory – our concerns started being taken more seriously and a dialogue finally began. We hope this will help find solutions and reduce the noise. Thank you for the professional work.

I was very satisfied with the service. The acoustic tests were carried out professionally, and everything was explained clearly and understandably. I also received a free consultation on how to improve sound insulation in our two-dwelling house, with specific and practical advice. What I liked most was the feeling that they work not just for the job, but out of conviction and a sincere wish to help the client find the best solution.

Building acoustic measurements and sound class determination

Acoustic measurements are carried out to determine a building's sound insulation performance and to assess whether it meets the requirements of the Lithuanian construction regulation STR 2.01.07:2003. We assess partition walls, floors, façades, reverberation time and other acoustic comfort parameters, and determine the building's sound class based on the results.

We carry out interim acoustic measurements during construction, helping designers and architects avoid mistakes and control the quality of work. At the end of construction we perform final measurements and determine the building's actual acoustic performance.

Honesty, objectivity and accurate results matter most to us. We want the client, home buyer or developer to receive reliable information about the building's acoustic quality and to be able to make informed decisions. Our team consists of specialists with more than 10 years of experience and hundreds of completed projects.

How much do acoustic measurements cost?

From €150 + VAT — one acoustic element in an apartment building

From €300 + VAT — two-dwelling building

The price of acoustic measurements in Lithuania depends on the building type, the number of tested elements and the scope of measurements. The final price is calculated individually based on the needs of the specific project.

How much do noise measurements and noise studies cost?

From €150 + VAT — short-term noise measurements

From €80 + VAT — one measurement within a larger study

The price of noise measurements and studies depends on the number of measurement points, the nature of the noise sources, the duration of the study and the scope of analysis. The more measurement points and the more complex the noise source, the larger the scope of the study. The price of more detailed noise studies (long-term monitoring, assessment of tonal and impulsive sounds, frequency analysis) is set individually after assessing the conditions on site.

Noise studies assess noise from transport, industry, building services or commercial activities. The results are used to assess compliance with hygiene standards and to select noise reduction measures.

We provide these services – from building acoustics to environmental noise studies – throughout Lithuania: in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and other cities. Our accredited noise and acoustic testing laboratory has repeatedly confirmed the accuracy of its tests in interlaboratory comparisons according to ISO/IEC 17043.

Accuracy, objectivity and responsibility are important to us – every test report contains correct, reliable and fact-based information. If an unacceptable sound class or excessive noise level is found, we provide recommendations for improving sound insulation.

How does an acoustic measurement work?

  1. You send us the building design or cadastral file.

    If the cadastral file has not yet been prepared, a document with the building's unique number is sufficient.

  2. We agree on the measurement date.

    We check whether the building is ready for measurement and give recommendations if needed.

  3. We select the elements to be tested.

    In line with STR 2.01.07, we select at least 5% of the building's elements for testing.

  4. We arrive on site.

    We arrive at the agreed time.

  5. We ensure quiet conditions.

    We make sure it is quiet inside and around the building.

  6. We prepare the rooms.

    We close the windows of the rooms being measured and switch off noise-emitting equipment if needed.

  7. We set up the acoustic measurement equipment.
  8. We carry out the measurements.

    We complete the measurements and leave the site.

  9. We prepare the test report.
  10. We send you the report.

    The report, signed with a qualified electronic signature, is sent by email.

Building services noise measurements

Noise sources we measure:

  • ventilation systems and fans;
  • heat recovery units;
  • lifts;
  • water heaters, pumps and other noisy auxiliary equipment;
  • garage doors;
  • cooling and heating equipment;
  • washbasins, baths, showers, taps, toilets and plumbing systems;
  • other building services equipment;
  • various activities inside the building.

Noise level measurements

Road, railway and aircraft noise measurements

We measure noise from road traffic, railways and aircraft in residential and public environments. Measurements establish the actual environmental noise level, assess the impact of transport infrastructure and identify the main noise sources. Meteorological data at a height of 10 m are also analysed during the survey.

Next to railway lines, measurements are taken to assess the combined noise level of passing trains and activities in the adjacent industrial area, and to separate the contribution of each nearby operator. The results are used to assess compliance with legal and hygiene requirements and to plan noise reduction measures.

Industrial noise measurements

We carry out detailed acoustic studies at industrial sites in accordance with ISO 1996-2:2017. Measurements make it possible to assess the noise level in the environment, identify noise sources and evaluate their impact on the environment and residents. Results are assessed against the latest requirements of the Lithuanian hygiene standard HN 33:2026.

Studies can be supplemented with a modern acoustic camera that visualises sound sources in real time. This is an effective way to pinpoint dominant noise sources even in complex industrial environments.

In addition to noise level measurements, we carry out long-term noise monitoring, prepare analytical reports and give recommendations for noise reduction. Our solutions help companies comply with legal requirements, protect the wellbeing of employees and residents, and create a more sustainable environment.

Noise source investigation with an acoustic camera

Acoustic camera surveys make it possible to pinpoint dominant noise sources and choose the best noise reduction solutions at various industrial sites. Acoustic camera data often substantially refine a previously built acoustic model.

On the acoustic camera screen, noise sources are shown as a colour map overlaid on the real image – warmer colours indicate louder spots. This lets specialists determine within seconds which part of a structure or which piece of equipment emits the most noise.

Noise modelling

For more complex cases we also offer noise modelling – a calculation-based method that predicts how noise will spread in the environment before design solutions are implemented. We use acoustic camera data and long-term measurement data, so the modelling results are particularly accurate.

FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

Yes. For two-dwelling and multi-apartment buildings, short-term accommodation, healthcare and educational buildings it is mandatory to verify that the building meets the applicable acoustic requirements. Acoustic measurements assess sound insulation and, where applicable, reverberation time. After the measurements an acoustic test report is issued, which demonstrates compliance with the required sound class and can be used in the building handover process.

Acoustic testing of a two-dwelling building costs €300 + VAT. For apartment buildings the price depends on the number of tested elements. One acoustic element costs €150 + VAT. At least 5% of the building's elements must be tested.

The duration depends on the number of rooms being measured. In a two-dwelling building acoustic measurements usually take up to 2 hours, and in larger apartment buildings about 5–7 hours. Unfavourable conditions, such as intense background noise that requires repeating measurements, can extend the duration.

The price includes accredited acoustic measurements, determination of sound insulation values, assessment of results according to STR 2.01.07:2003 and an accredited test report for the client. During the measurements we also provide a short free acoustic consultation and, if needed, recommendations on how to fix the identified acoustic deficiencies.

Before the measurements the laboratory needs the architectural and structural parts of the building design and the building's cadastral survey file. These documents are needed to identify the structures to be measured, select measurement locations and correctly assess the results.

If the cadastral file has not yet been prepared, a document confirming the building's unique number is sufficient. In this case the sound classification report can be issued without the cadastral file. Later, once the cadastral file is ready, the room numbering from the design can be changed to the cadastral numbering without changing the measurement results.

No, the price does not depend on the city – we work throughout Lithuania (Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and other cities) on the same terms. The final price depends only on the building type and the number of tested elements: testing a two-dwelling building costs from €300 + VAT, and one acoustic element in an apartment building from €150 + VAT.

The price depends on the number of measurement points, the nature of the noise sources and the complexity of the study. The more points that need to be tested, the more measurement work and data analysis is required. Short-term noise measurements start from €150 + VAT. The price of larger noise studies (long-term monitoring, assessment of tonal and impulsive sounds) is set individually after assessing the site type, noise sources and required scope of analysis.

One of the most common mistakes is not checking the building's sound insulation class. Disappointment often only becomes apparent after moving in, when neighbours' conversations, footsteps or other household sounds can be heard. Although buyers usually focus on location, price or layout, sound insulation between apartments and floors – and even the reverberation time of the stairwell – is a very important comfort factor.

Acoustic measurements objectively assess sound insulation between apartments and floors, as well as room acoustic parameters such as stairwell reverberation time. This helps evaluate living comfort in advance and avoid problems in the future.

If acoustic measurements show that the building does not meet the mandatory sound class requirements, the causes of non-compliance are identified and recommendations for fixing them are provided. Once the deficiencies are fixed, repeat acoustic measurements are carried out to confirm whether the building now meets the applicable requirements.

According to the Lithuanian construction technical regulation STR 2.01.07:2003, the indoor sound class of newly designed two-dwelling, multi-apartment and terraced residential buildings, as well as some noise-sensitive non-residential buildings, must be no lower than C.

Before painting work begins. Walls must be plastered, plasterboard fixed, internal partitions installed, entrance doors fitted and windows adjusted.

It is a document issued by an accredited laboratory that performs field acoustic measurements of a building. The report states the actual sound class of the building or its parts, assessed on the basis of the measurement results.

The sound class expresses the quality of a building's noise protection according to STR 2.01.07:2003:
A – very good acoustic comfort;
B – improved acoustic comfort;
C – acceptable acoustic comfort;
D – insufficient acoustic comfort;
E – marginal acoustic comfort;
Unclassified – a special class indicating that the building's external acoustic environment may make it difficult to meet essential requirement No. 5 "Protection against noise" of Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC.

Lead times are agreed individually depending on the location, scope of work and current workload. Usually we visit the site and prepare the documents within 5–14 working days.

Agree on the measurement time with the laboratory and all building owners so that specialists can access all rooms to be tested. For accurate and smooth measurements the rooms must be freely accessible. During the measurements there must be no people or animals in them, electricity must be connected, and windows and doors must be fully installed and close tightly. It is also important that no construction or finishing work that could cause additional noise is carried out in the building during the measurements.

Acoustic measurements do not have to be carried out only in fully finished rooms. If the final finishing is not yet complete, this can even be an advantage – acoustic deficiencies are easier and cheaper to fix before the finishing is done. However, the floor screed must be installed before the measurements. For impact sound insulation measurements, the floor covering must also be installed.

Yes. When an apartment building is handed over, only part of the structures are tested – under STR 2.01.07 usually at least 5% of the building's elements. This means that the specific apartment you plan to buy has most likely not been tested directly. As a result, even a new building that meets the requirements may contain apartments with poorer sound insulation due to construction quality or structural solutions. Acoustic measurements before purchase objectively assess the sound insulation of the exact apartment you are choosing and help you avoid unpleasant surprises.

Yes, noise sources can be identified with an acoustic camera.

Not at all. Buildings with a higher acoustic comfort class are still undervalued in Lithuania, yet the quality of life in them is much higher – nobody wants to hear their neighbours. We do not quite understand why so many designers design to the lowest mandatory class C. Before buying an apartment we recommend checking the sound classification report or acoustic test reports.

Yes. Noise limit values in Lithuania are set by the hygiene standard HN 33:2026.

Yes.

At the design stage. You need to think not only about the building structures but also about room layout, the location of building services equipment in and around the building, and how that equipment is fixed to the building.

Yes, measurements and assessment are carried out according to HN 30:2018 and the requirements of the relevant methods.

Poorly designed structures, insufficient attention to sound insulation during construction, poor workmanship and unsuitable room layouts.
